Following the past two posts on health blocks (What’s Your Health Block? and Health Blocks, Take 2), let’s talk about three common health blocks. I’ll start with a few of my personal stumbling blocks.
1) I can’t lose weight.
Oh, this one is good. If we’re playing this message somewhere inside of ourselves, I suppose it’s little surprise we find it difficult to lose weight (or keep it off) even if we’re trying really, really hard. When we’re pushing on one end but pulling in the opposite direction on the other, we probably won’t move very far.
2) I’ll start tomorrow.
I’ve thought this one many, many, many times. I wonder why I thought “tomorrow” would be any different than the current day. Maybe something magical was going to happen or someone was going to swoop in and save me from myself? I don’t know. What I see now is that unless I do something differently today, tomorrow is going to be more of the same.
3) I just need to find the right ________. (diet, exercise, trainer, etc.)
Gotta love the pull of a magic pill, silver bullet, or quick fix. Sadly, I’ve never found one that leads to sustainable change. Want something to happen? We’ve got to try in a different way, from a different mindset, and with a different energy. Albert Einstein was onto something when he said: “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”
And there are many more possible health blocks. We all have our own flavors that affect us in different ways.
Wondering what to do about health blocks? Keep an eye out; I’ll dive into that in the next post.
Any of these health blocks feel familiar? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
